Birchgrove ignored the apprentice's comment, giving Browntail a thankful look and amused look. The warrior had given Brookpaw some good advice. Seeing as everyone had caught their breath, Birchgrove decided he'd speak.
"Alright there are some border markers following this stream down to the lake. Each of us will take turns marking one and catching up to the patrol as we move down this side of stream and to the lake. Make sure to keep your ears up, your eyes sharp, and your nose in the air. We want to make sure Thunderclan hasn't crossed the border and if they have, then we'll report to Aspenstar," Birchgrove said as he finished giving instructions, before turning to the apprentice. Maybe her energy could best be diverted in a different method.
"Brookpaw why don't you lead the way to the first marker, think of it as an assessment," Birchgrove told the apprentice.

On the inside, Deathpaw was glowing with confidence. She'd just gotten away with her last remark. She half-listened as Nightpelt spoke about marking borders and hunting. She opened her eyes and could tell right away that no RIverclaw cats had intruded into across the border. Getting a rather devious idea, Deathpaw decided she'd stir up some trouble. It'd had some excitement into her life.
"If it's alright with you two, I'll go do some solo hunting. Don't worry I'll stay close by," Deathpaw called back to her deputy and Swiftwhisper, already moving away from the two warriors.

Birchgrove was glad to have the patrol racing along with him. The wind in his fur felt great, but he still managed to keep up a good and steady pace. He was surprised that Brookpaw wasn't leading the way, but brushed it off after glancing behind to make sure she was still following. It wasn't long before the stream border began approaching. Thunderclan woodland could be seen just beyond it. Noticing Browntail's determination to win, Birchgrove slowed down and let the she-cat have the win, coming to a stop at the stream before Larkdawn and Brookpaw.

"Oh so I'm handsome now?" Viper said with a smirk after taking in what she'd told him, " well, I guess I've just journeyed really. Somedays, I'll stick around one area for a long time. Others, I'll pass through and be on my way the same day. If there's anything that catches my attention, I'll stick around it til I get bored. I hunt when I need to hunt. Fight if I ever need to defend myself from danger. My life is very straight forward for a wild cat. I like this lake territory. The food's abundant here so I think I might stick around for a feel. Get a feel for the area, decide whether or not it's worth settling down. It's really the only reason I journey, I just haven't found a place to call home."
As Viper finally realized why he'd said what he'd just said, he moved his paw to his mouth and started cleaning his face, trying to get any pieces of mouse that might be cluttering his face.

Deathpaw rolled her eyes. She wasn't sure what Nightpelt was trying to pull with Swiftwhisper but she'd seen the toms act when trying to get a she-cat. This seemed exactly like one of those scenarios. He'd even bothered to slow down, which further attested to Deathpaw's thoughts.
"Nightpelt I'm sure getting in her nest doesn't have to involve her getting out of it," Deathpaw said, with a rather snarky tone.

Viper wasted no time rushing forward and finishing the rest of the mouse. It had been a really large mouse so thankfully there was plenty of mouse scraps left. Once he was finished, he quickly dug a small hole and buried the remains. He took quick notice of her name.
"It sounds elegant but also strange, then again most kittypets such as yourself have the strangest names," Viper said, adding in the last part mostly as a tease, referencing her calling his name strange," so then, what does a gem such as yourself do when you leave your nest? Certainly not spend time around strange toms you've just met, right?"

Deathpaw kept up her slow pace. She made sure she could keep sight of her mentor as she ran, not too eager to receive some scolding. A scolding could mean that battle practice would be delayed and she would absolutely hate that.
" Keep running like that and I'll call you a Windclan cat," Deathpaw called back to Nightpelt. She was being completely serious with her comment. Any other cat would've simply called it out as a joke. However, at the thought of Windclan, Deathpaw merely got a wild fire burning in her eyes. A fire of deep and utter hatred.

Viper let out a small purr as she licked his shoulder.
"Just for that kitten, I think I'll let you keep this mice. I'm sure with a bite of wild-life training you'd be fine out in the forest," Viper told the she-cat. It was then he remembered, how she'd called his name strange. This slightly peeved him but he brushed it off.
"I'm named for a snake, whose very bite could end your life in mere moments. There were many in the area I lived in when I was first born. Dangerous and, even if killed, useless for cats since the poison in their bite was in their bodies," Viper told the she-cat," anyways, enough about me. What do I call you snowflake?"

Viper watched her movements, definitely entranced by her movements. He heard her casual remarks on wanting to see Viper catch a mouse. He opened his mouth and scent the air, mice were plentiful here it seemed. As Viper got up to stalk the closest one, he was stopped as she began to circle him. It seemed strange that such a kittypet could fascinate him as she could and he listened to her words.
"If you want such excitements kitty, why do you hang out with two-legs? Don't you want to be free? Enjoy the wind against your fur? Taste a piece of fresh-kill. Why, even fighting for your life can be exciting. The life you lead now may offer the essentials, but why don't you leave? The outside world offers plenty of essentials, with the benefit of excitement a little two-leg pet like you could never hope to experience in all it's grandeur," Viper told the kittypet. He was rather surprised when she asked for his name.
"My mother named me Viper," the tom told the she-cat, rather pleased as he felt her tail tip brush against his shoulder teasingly," you know, there's a mouse just up ahead. Follow me, but tread softly." With those words, Viper began to move away into a small patch of big bushes, with his tail tip brushing against the she-cat's nose on purpose, a smile as he made sure not to look back and see her reaction.
The fairly fresh scent trail he followed led him to come to a stop three or so fox-lengths from a bush, were a mouse was happily chewing away at something small and round. Viper's tail twitched upwards, to signal her to be quiet. He was serious now, a mouse was a mouse, and he was hungry. He slowly moved forward in a hunting crouch. His tail was perfectly still above the ground. His rough hard paw pads connected to the ground as softly as possible. Viper calculated the distance and then leaped forward, his paw slapping the mouse hard away from the bush and leaving it stunned between him and the kittypet. With no hesitation, he rushed forward and dealt the killing blow.

Viper smiled coyly. He could see the game she was trying to pull, and so he decided he'd play along.
"Alright kitty. What do you want me to catch?" Viper said. There were still plenty of mice around, and the gurgling of a stream suggested that there might be fish also. The lake was an option but he'd never hunt for fish there. Most usually preferred to stay near the center of the lake, where the waters were too rough for a cat to swim easily and too deep for a cat to dive for fish. A few nearby trees suggested the presence of squirrels and blackbird nests. Of course the two-leg nest where she had come from would probably have some birds, but those were far too scrawny for Viper's taste.
As Viper took a look at his surroundings, his eyes kept glancing at the kitty pet's snowy white fur. She was definitely a beautiful she-cat, even for kittypet standards, and she put to shame any female wild cats Viper had been with.
"Why'd a precious stone such as yourself want with hunting anyways, especially when you've got everything you need to be happy with at your nest" Viper asked her, finally letting his curiousity get the better of him.

Birchgrove led to the patrol towards the Thunderclan border closest to the Moonpool, rather amused at Browntail and Brookpaw's energy. It's good they have so much energy, it'll keep their claws sharp for when the clans start acting up again, whenever that might be, Birchgrove thought to himself. The tabby tom chuckled in response to Larkdawn's comment.
"Rogues will be rogues. You have to claw them a few times for them to get the message," Birchgrove replied. The tom gave a quick look at the sun's location. It hadn't risen much since they'd left camp, but Birchgrove knew that they'd need to pick up the pace if they hoped to clear the borders before Sunhigh. Giving a quick look back to the patrol, Birchgrove began to speak.
"Last one to the Thunderclan border is a piece of Riverclan fish-slop," Birchgrove said teasingly before taking off, tail streaming behind him. He was full of energy but borders had to be checked and it'd be a good way of using some of the energy fueling Browntail and Brookpaw.

^ Well I was planning on getting a job, but no one is hiring and the school didn't accept my tutor application (even though i turned in a mighty impressive resume and i'm one of the top kids in my class) which really pissed me off. So now I'm just applying everywhere that does not include doing field work because I know for a fact I wont survive. The rest of the summer is just gunna be video games, SSS, applying everywhere, eating, sleeping, and hopefully staying home. > I messed up my sleep schedule :/ v Have you ever messed up your sleep schedule?

Viper could tell she was definitely one of the more prettier she-cats he'd met. Most were often fat on the two-leg slop they ate. He walked around her, thinking for a bit.
"Much better? More like leagues better. I don't live the pampered life you do hun, when I hunt, I hunt to survive. A catch lost, is a meal time gone. If you want to survive out here, being a hunter is absolutely essential. But if you'd like, I could teach you not to be so horrible at hunting sweets," Viper said as he looked to the she-cat. While her mouse had gotten away, there were plenty hiding in the shrubbery based on what he could smell.

Birchgrove waited while everyone on the patrol gathered by the camp entrance. Thankfully, he didn't have to wait very long. He purred in amusement at Brookpaw's energy. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that. There's been peace in the clans for once and I'd like to keep it that way. If we run into a situation while patrolling, we'll talk before unsheathing our claws," Birchgrove told the young apprentice. He was mildly surprised to find his fellow clanmate, Rabbitleap walk up to the patrol Birchgrove had always been rather envious of Rabbitleap's long legs. "I'm sorry Rabbitleap, but our patrol is full as it is. I've heard Aspenstar will be organizing a hunting patrol before Sunhigh, maybe you should go talk to him?" Birchgrove suggested. Seeing as the patrol was all gathered, Birchgrove stood from where he'd been sitting. "If we're ready, then let's go!" Birchgrove said as he began walking out of camp. OOC: so just wanted to say, that we'll start the patrol in this thread, and then finish the patrol in tro's thread
Birchgrove strode out of Windclan camp. It was a beautiful day, with the sun having just fully emerged. The sky was as blue as ever and moors were beginning to turn from green to yellow, an evident sign of the of the heat of green-leaf final getting to the grassy moors. He turned to his patrol, looking at them with a rather calm expression.
"Alright everyone. We'll start by going over to the Thunderclan border. We'll need to keep the scent markers strong if we want to keep those squirrel eaters out. Once we're done there, we'll check the Skyclan border before doing a quick check at our border with the unclaimed territory.. It's a popular hub for rouges who think they can getting away with stealing our prey," Birchgrove said ," after we've checked the Thunderclan border, we can stop to hunt before we continue."

ooc: hopefully, you don't mind if I bring Viper in here?
Viper's journeys had brought him once again to a sprawling Two-leg Place. He had two options, go directly through it, or skirt around it. Deciding he'd take the much safer path, Viper decided to go around. The two-leg nests on the outskirts were much smaller and safer as well. It wasn't long until he hit a Thunderpath and curiosity caught Viper's attention. He followed the strangely quiet path until it started dipping down, leading to a large lake. Excited, Viper walked past a few Two-Leg nests and into some shrubbery. Feeling rather hungry, Viper decided he'd try to catch something here. Opening his mouth, Viper decided to take in all the scents around him. He could smell mice and squirrels and two-leg. The two-leg scent had caught him off guard. Worried there might be one around, Viper quickly climbed a tree and scented the air again. The scent this time had the smell of another cat. A Kittypet! he thought. Viper. Curious as to what a kittypet was doing out by the edge of the lake, Viper climbed down a tree followed the scent to find that she was...hunting? Wanting to watch, Viper climbed the closest tree and, well, watched.
"Strange," Viper muttered to himself. He could immediately see that she was definitely not the best around. With her tail high in the air, and her stomach too close to the ground, the mouse had seen and heard her ages before she tried to catch it. He chuckled at her failed attempt.
"Hey sweets, hunting for air are you?" Viper said teasingly as he jumped down from his perch to confront the kittypet.

Deathpaw rolled her eyes, rather annoyed that they had to run. She brushed off Swiftwhisper's comment and started following the two warriors at a half-hearted pace. As much as she would've liked to sneak back to camp, the patrol had only started and she knew they'd find her easily if she ditched them now. She'd just have to wait it seemed for her chance it seemed.

^ I do have a deviantART, but I don't use it much xD > I love Amber's band o3o v If given a choice, would you rather fall off a cliff and have to make your way back to civilization with many broken bones or would you rather jump off a plane with no parachute?
