Clarabelle awoke feeling warm and content inside of her soft fluffy nest. With a big yawn, she stretched out her legs and stepped onto the cold hardwood floor, and padded over to her foodbowl. She looked at today's mush, not particularly thrilled. She could smell the chicken in it a mile away. She hated chicken. Reluctantly, she crouched down by the bowl and lapped at the mush, wishing it was fish instead. As she chewed, she wondered what a real chicken or fish would taste like. Certainly much better than this slop. Those wildcats eat real fish and birds all the time she thought. If those wild cats can catch their own meal, I'm sure I can too. Anything would be better than this. With that in mind, she abandoned her food in favour of heading for the door. She nudged open the catflap and stepped outside into the fresh morning air. Taking a deep breath, she sighed. The heavy scent of growing things filled her senses. Thankfully those horrid flowers her owners planted hadn't bloomed yet, saving her from having to put up with their sickly sweet scent. She took a moment to savour the feeling of the pleasant morning sun on her fur, and then daintily stepped onto the grass and trotted over to the fence. Clarabelle considered herself quite good at jumping. Much better than the fat tom that lived down the road, at least. She leaped onto the fence and balanced on top of it, looking over at the other side for any threats before hopping down onto the untrimmed grass.
Now, to track down some dinner. she knew the area pretty well, and with a spring in her step, she began making her way to the edge of the lake. She wanted fish, and fish was exactly what she would get. Only a few minutes into her journey, a sound caught her attention. A quiet, scuffling sound that any cat worth their whiskers would know. A mouse! It was no fish, but Clarabelle was willing to give it a try. She crouched down, her tail raised up with excitement and her belly too low to the ground. The scuffling came closer, and Clarabelle saw a little whiskered nose peek out from a bush. Without any calculations or preparations, she dove for the bush. The mouse dove back for cover and she landed face first into the bush, hissing and spitting angrily. "Stupid rat!" she shouted as she carefully removed herself from the bush. Leaves and dust covered her everywhere, spoiling her nice white coat. "Hmph. Probably tasted terrible anyway." she muttered, licking her shoulder, glad that at least no one had seen that embarrassing display... or so she thought.

ooc: hopefully, you don't mind if I bring Viper in here?
Viper's journeys had brought him once again to a sprawling Two-leg Place. He had two options, go directly through it, or skirt around it. Deciding he'd take the much safer path, Viper decided to go around. The two-leg nests on the outskirts were much smaller and safer as well. It wasn't long until he hit a Thunderpath and curiosity caught Viper's attention. He followed the strangely quiet path until it started dipping down, leading to a large lake. Excited, Viper walked past a few Two-Leg nests and into some shrubbery. Feeling rather hungry, Viper decided he'd try to catch something here. Opening his mouth, Viper decided to take in all the scents around him. He could smell mice and squirrels and two-leg. The two-leg scent had caught him off guard. Worried there might be one around, Viper quickly climbed a tree and scented the air again. The scent this time had the smell of another cat. A Kittypet! he thought. Viper. Curious as to what a kittypet was doing out by the edge of the lake, Viper climbed down a tree followed the scent to find that she was...hunting? Wanting to watch, Viper climbed the closest tree and, well, watched.
"Strange," Viper muttered to himself. He could immediately see that she was definitely not the best around. With her tail high in the air, and her stomach too close to the ground, the mouse had seen and heard her ages before she tried to catch it. He chuckled at her failed attempt.
"Hey sweets, hunting for air are you?" Viper said teasingly as he jumped down from his perch to confront the kittypet.

ooc: not at all! ^^
Clarabelle's fur bristled and she whirled around in an embarrassed flurry. She eyed the newcomer warily. A tom! And not a bad looking one... she thought, self consciously licking her shoulder. Why of all times did he choose now to appear? Her fur was an absolute mess! "Very funny." she mewed coldly. "And I suppose you could have done better?" she asked, licking a paw and swiping it over her ear. Perhaps if she goaded him enough, she'd get her meal without having to lift a paw. After all, what tom wouldn't want to show off for a beautiful she-cat like herself?

Viper could tell she was definitely one of the more prettier she-cats he'd met. Most were often fat on the two-leg slop they ate. He walked around her, thinking for a bit.
"Much better? More like leagues better. I don't live the pampered life you do hun, when I hunt, I hunt to survive. A catch lost, is a meal time gone. If you want to survive out here, being a hunter is absolutely essential. But if you'd like, I could teach you not to be so horrible at hunting sweets," Viper said as he looked to the she-cat. While her mouse had gotten away, there were plenty hiding in the shrubbery based on what he could smell.

Clarabelle ignored the comments about her pampered upbringing, despite her knowing he was right, and sat tall, widening her eyes. "You'd teach a little thing like me how to hunt?" she mewed, making her voice light with surprise. "But how do I know you're the real deal? You say you're an excellent hunter, but can you prove it?" she challenged him, a delighted gleam in her pretty blue eyes. It wasn't often she accidentally stumbled onto such a rare opportunity.

Viper smiled coyly. He could see the game she was trying to pull, and so he decided he'd play along.
"Alright kitty. What do you want me to catch?" Viper said. There were still plenty of mice around, and the gurgling of a stream suggested that there might be fish also. The lake was an option but he'd never hunt for fish there. Most usually preferred to stay near the center of the lake, where the waters were too rough for a cat to swim easily and too deep for a cat to dive for fish. A few nearby trees suggested the presence of squirrels and blackbird nests. Of course the two-leg nest where she had come from would probably have some birds, but those were far too scrawny for Viper's taste.
As Viper took a look at his surroundings, his eyes kept glancing at the kitty pet's snowy white fur. She was definitely a beautiful she-cat, even for kittypet standards, and she put to shame any female wild cats Viper had been with.
"Why'd a precious stone such as yourself want with hunting anyways, especially when you've got everything you need to be happy with at your nest" Viper asked her, finally letting his curiousity get the better of him.

Clarabelle held back a purr. This was going just as planned. She looked at the forest around her, thinking of all the possibilities. She could hear and feel the presence of many small animals. There were plenty of birds around, but she couldn't stand the thought of all those dry feathers getting in her mouth. I've never tried mouse before... But that might be too easy. Rabbit? I don't know if any would be out around here. And of course I'd still really like to try a fresh fish. she glanced at the stranger, and thought to herself, Why not try them all? Putting on her most charming act, she made her decision. "Well, how about a mouse? There's bound to be plenty around." she mewed. It was something easy to start with, and hopefully, she could work her way up from there.
Clarabelle purred at Viper. It seems he's quite a charmer she noted, eyeing the tom. None of her kittypet friends were even half as well-built as he was, and nowhere near as intriguing. "Well, I have everything I need, but most certainly not everything I want." she responded. "It just gets so dull and boring... What's the point of living if there's no excitement?" she sighed, and got up to circle around him. "Tell me, do you have a name? Or do wildcats such as yourself have no need for such a thing?" she mewed, flicking his shoulder with her tail-tip teasingly.

Viper watched her movements, definitely entranced by her movements. He heard her casual remarks on wanting to see Viper catch a mouse. He opened his mouth and scent the air, mice were plentiful here it seemed. As Viper got up to stalk the closest one, he was stopped as she began to circle him. It seemed strange that such a kittypet could fascinate him as she could and he listened to her words.
"If you want such excitements kitty, why do you hang out with two-legs? Don't you want to be free? Enjoy the wind against your fur? Taste a piece of fresh-kill. Why, even fighting for your life can be exciting. The life you lead now may offer the essentials, but why don't you leave? The outside world offers plenty of essentials, with the benefit of excitement a little two-leg pet like you could never hope to experience in all it's grandeur," Viper told the kittypet. He was rather surprised when she asked for his name.
"My mother named me Viper," the tom told the she-cat, rather pleased as he felt her tail tip brush against his shoulder teasingly," you know, there's a mouse just up ahead. Follow me, but tread softly." With those words, Viper began to move away into a small patch of big bushes, with his tail tip brushing against the she-cat's nose on purpose, a smile as he made sure not to look back and see her reaction.
The fairly fresh scent trail he followed led him to come to a stop three or so fox-lengths from a bush, were a mouse was happily chewing away at something small and round. Viper's tail twitched upwards, to signal her to be quiet. He was serious now, a mouse was a mouse, and he was hungry. He slowly moved forward in a hunting crouch. His tail was perfectly still above the ground. His rough hard paw pads connected to the ground as softly as possible. Viper calculated the distance and then leaped forward, his paw slapping the mouse hard away from the bush and leaving it stunned between him and the kittypet. With no hesitation, he rushed forward and dealt the killing blow.

"Viper? What a strange name." she remarked. Most of the cats she'd met had names like Boras, Oreo, or Harry. Nice and proper names, in her opinion. "Well Viper, I happen to be very fond of my current home. I have a family that loves and cares for me, a warm bed to sleep in, and I can come and go as I please." She left out the fact that her owners would sometimes lock the catflap to keep her inside. "It's safe and familiar, you see." she mewed. "And to be quite frank, a little thing like me wouldn't do so well out here." she sighed, being truthful. She glanced down at her delicate, clawless paws unhappily as she began to follow Viper, trying to tread softly as told. Her nose twitched as his tail brushed against her nose, and she held back a sneeze as the warm scent of his fur found its way into her nose. It almost made her forget to tread carefully, until they came to a halt and she nearly bumped into him.
Understanding his signal, she crouched down quietly and observed as he made the kill, jumping back a bit as it landed somewhat near her. "My, you are quite the hunter!" she purred, trotting over to give the lifeless mouse a sniff. It smelled delicious, but she resisted the urge to dig in, and instead padded up to Viper and gave his shoulder a congratulatory lick.

Viper let out a small purr as she licked his shoulder.
"Just for that kitten, I think I'll let you keep this mice. I'm sure with a bite of wild-life training you'd be fine out in the forest," Viper told the she-cat. It was then he remembered, how she'd called his name strange. This slightly peeved him but he brushed it off.
"I'm named for a snake, whose very bite could end your life in mere moments. There were many in the area I lived in when I was first born. Dangerous and, even if killed, useless for cats since the poison in their bite was in their bodies," Viper told the she-cat," anyways, enough about me. What do I call you snowflake?"

Clarabelle purred in delight and victory, and went to go dig into her mouse. She daintily bit into it, her eyes widening. This was amazing! She took a couple more bites as she listened to Viper. Sitting up, she licked a paw and left the rest of the mouse for Viper. "Here, you're the brave hunter, you should eat some of your catch." she mewed, wanting to save room for the other treats she intended to get. "My name is Clarabelle." she mewed proudly.

Viper wasted no time rushing forward and finishing the rest of the mouse. It had been a really large mouse so thankfully there was plenty of mouse scraps left. Once he was finished, he quickly dug a small hole and buried the remains. He took quick notice of her name.
"It sounds elegant but also strange, then again most kittypets such as yourself have the strangest names," Viper said, adding in the last part mostly as a tease, referencing her calling his name strange," so then, what does a gem such as yourself do when you leave your nest? Certainly not spend time around strange toms you've just met, right?"

Clarabelle purred, noticing how he somehow thought her name was the strange one. "Oh no, only around the ones that interest me." she mewed as she began grooming herself. "I like to go for runs and practice climbing. I've seen many housecats become fat and lazy, and I simply will not allow myself to fall into such a state." she mewed. "And sometimes I like to take a dip in the river, but only when it's nice and sunny. What about you? What does a handsome rogue like you do asides from teach 'kittypets' like me how to hunt?"

"Oh so I'm handsome now?" Viper said with a smirk after taking in what she'd told him, " well, I guess I've just journeyed really. Somedays, I'll stick around one area for a long time. Others, I'll pass through and be on my way the same day. If there's anything that catches my attention, I'll stick around it til I get bored. I hunt when I need to hunt. Fight if I ever need to defend myself from danger. My life is very straight forward for a wild cat. I like this lake territory. The food's abundant here so I think I might stick around for a feel. Get a feel for the area, decide whether or not it's worth settling down. It's really the only reason I journey, I just haven't found a place to call home."
As Viper finally realized why he'd said what he'd just said, he moved his paw to his mouth and started cleaning his face, trying to get any pieces of mouse that might be cluttering his face.

Clarabelle purred. "Well perhaps you'll find this place more to your liking? After all, there are many things to like here... And it's not just the mice." she mewed lightly, and licked a paw and drew it over her ear, beginning to groom the tragic state of her fur into something decent. "Are mice all you hunt? Or can you catch other things too?" she casually asked, her mind once again focused on her goal. The mouse was good, but there must be more delectable things to try. Like a nice fat fish, or a fit hare.

Viper decided that he didn't mind going for another hunt. He was about to answer when he stopped to take in just how beautiful the she-cat was. He brushed away the thoughts in his head. Deciding to play along with the little game she had him in, Viper gave a scoff in reply.
"Just mice? What do I look like to you, a kit? I'm the hunter out here precious, and I can hunt anything. I can hunt mice, squirrels, blackbirds, fish, voles, and...even pretty little she-cats like you," Viper said as he shot Clarabelle a mischievous look with that last portion, before waving his tail toward the nearby stream.
"I bet it's full of fish, let's go see," Viper said as he led the way.

ooc: I hope you don't mind if I step in
The wind was ruffling through my fur. I loved it. The time when I could finally step outside into the fresh air without my twoleg chasing me back in. I could see the thunderpath ahead of me. I strolled towards it and smelt the air. I could smell mice. My insides craved the taste of a freshly killed meal. I crawled towards the mice hole following the scent of mice. I licked my lips and stuck my paw inside the hole. Nothing I hissed in frustration. I could never hunt properly. I stalked back towards my twoleg home and jumped through the open window ignoring the laugh of the cat next door.
