Silverblossom walked out of camp, letting in a sigh as she took in the smell of the forest around her. It was Green-Leaf and, like the name suggested, the trees were as green as ever. It still wasn't Sunhigh, but she was sure it'd come soon. Silverblossom caught a scent of cat but after a quick sniff realized it was the hunting patrol that had left earlier. Their scent trail was beginning to grow stale. Ignoring the scent, Silverblossom turned to look at the three cats accompanying her, her apprentice, Softpaw and the two warriors that were escorting them on the search for herbs, Robinfeather and Speckledlily.
"It's such a beautiful day isn't it?" Silverblossom commented.

Speckledlily padded after Silverblossom, her tail raised. "It really is!" she mewed in response. It felt wonderful to get out of the camp, and into the familiar territory she called home. She sat by Silverblossom to wait for the others to join them, using this time to groom her paws carefully. "Too bad... Leaf-Fall... Will be coming... soon." she mewed between licks. The cold weather and scarce prey were things that she, and probably the rest of the clan, were not looking forward to.

Softpaw walked right behind her mentor and Speckledlily. Her mentors question, made her drag her attention away from all the new things she was seeing. Since becoming a medicine cat apprentice, this was actually her first time being out of the camp. "I suppose it is, I wouldn't know anything about Leaf-Fall, it would be my first one," she meowed. She had bern born around the end of Leaf-Bare, but she had heard that Leaf-fall wasn't as bad as Leaf-Bare. Even though she had yet to see Leaf-Fall, she was choosing New-Leaf as her favorite season. She couldn't help but wonder if that would change after Leaf-Fall came around.

Robinfeather remained quiet, before eyeing Softpaw in interest. It's odd how young she was, really, but she already was training and developing an understanding of how to aid cats. It was honourable, in fact, and her maturity was impressive for one at such a young age. "Although you may be excited, Leaf-fall tends to be something no cat looks forward to." he mewed in response, twitching his tail before glancing at Silverblossom for the plan. "Which herbs will you be looking for? What do they look like? I'm sure four pairs of eyes will be better than two, considering I have no experience in finding herbs," the deputy questioned, glancing uncertainly at all the plants around them.

"Robinfeather has a point. Leaf-fall is just another reminder that Leaf-bare is coming. The trees in our territory lose their leaves, the heat of Greenleaf that we are so used to disappears. Plants begin to die and Gathering herbs becomes much harder. Hunting becomes much harder, because the fallen leaves give prey better places to camouflage and more hiding spots. The only benefit of Leaf-fall is that squirrels run amok, trying to finish foraging for their Leaf-bare hibernation as quickly as possible," Silverblossom told her apprentice. As she finished talking she realized that Robinfeather had a point and as such answered his question, speaking both to Speckledlily and Robinfeather.
"We're looking for two herbs. The first, isn't a plant. I'm looking for cobwebs, I trust you've both seen them before? They're rather easy to find. Just search in any dark places like tree hollows, the inside of a log, and right beneath big branches. We need cobwebs for sealing wounds, with Leaf-fall almost among us, we want to be ready in case a battle breaks out or someone gets hurt while fighting a badger or fox. The next herb is why we'll be going to the stream along the Windclan border. It's a flowering plant, with yellow and sometimes white flowers that resemble dandelions. While it usually grows best in Newleaf, we should be able to find some that are still alive. Coltsfoot stay in bloom til early Leaf-fall," Silverblossom explained to both the warriors, before adding in," and Softpaw. Make sure you remember their usage. I'll be quizzing you later."

At the mention of WindClan's boarder, Speckledlily's ears pricked up with interest. Excited thoughts buzzed through her head, and she almost missed the rest of what Silverblossom was saying. She quickly made herself alert, even repeating it in her head. Yellow flower, white stuff! "Understood!" she mewed, eagerly padding a few steps ahead of the others.

"I didn't say anything about being excited. I just prefer Newleaf to Greenleaf, and I doubt a season where leaves change color will change that," Softpaw meowed with a shrug. She wasn't sure what was so great about leaves changing colors, all sbe knew was that kits liked playing in the leaves, if any ever got in camp. The reason she didn't care much for Newleaf, was because she had some pretty thick fur, and it made her pretty uncomfortable in Newleaf. When she heard her mentor she nodded, "Okay," she meowed, fixing her gaze straight ahead.

Robinfeather dipped his head in understanding, glancing back over to search for nearby dead foliage that might contain the cobweb. He wasn't particularly fond of spiders when taking into consideration their eight-legged existence and alien-like appearance, so it wasn't too big of a deal that he would have to rip apart their homes for the sake of medicine. He peered into a nearby dead log, disappointed when he couldn't find the glimmering silver web. He noted Speckledlily's excitement, and picked up the pace a little to catch up to her. "Is it just me that feels a little ridiculous around the medicine cats?" he mewed calmly, glancing back at them with a glint in his eye. "They know so much about their field, and I know so little!" Robinfeather purred, hoping the she-cat would not take him seriously.

Silverblossom let the two warriors converse. Not too particularly interested in whatever the two had to say. Her mind was more interested in looking around and interpreting signs from StarClan, who had been silent for the last few moons. Silverblossom hoped that it meant peace for the upcoming moons. A silvery glint caught her eye high up in the branches but well out of her reach. The branches were far too thin for her to try to get the cobwebs. Letting her eyes travel around, Silverblossom unfortunately didn't spot any other herbs worth collecting. A quick wiff of the air told her there was a yarrow bush nearby, however, Silverblossom wasn't particularly interested in harvesting it quite yet as her storages were full at the moment. Since the group of cats was moving at a decent pace towards the Windclan stream, Silverblossom decided she'd question her apprentice on whether or not she knew that there was yarrow nearby and what it was used for.
"Tell me, what can you scent?" Silverblossom asked Softpaw.

Softpaw followed after the small patrol of cats. She really just wanted to gather the herbs they needed, as fast as they could. Plodding along after the patrol, she caugyt sight of cobwebs among the branches of some of the trees. She considered asking her mentor if she should go retrieve them; since, she was the onky one in the patrol light enough to get them, but she decided against it. Silverblossom would just tell her no; since, climbing would be to hard on her health. Her mentors question snapped her out of her thoughts, and she opened her mouth, to scent the air. Drawing in the scents around her, she caught the scent of yarrow. She knew the scent of yarrow well and knew they had plenty back in their den. "Yarrow," she meowed.
