Jetstar led the way, maneuvering quietly through the coniferous woods as he sniffed around, searching for the regular scent of prey. Additionally, he eyed the bushes not just for movement, but also for bright berries or herbs that may seem useful for the medicine cat that must've been following close behind him. As soon as he caught scent of a bird, he crouched down, immediately recognizing the smell of dove. Keeping his tail down, the small leader inched towards it, catching site of it carelessly pecking at the ground for food. What a ratbrain, the leader thought, whiskers twitching. Suddenly, the bird stopped and raised it's head, eyeing the bushes where Jetstar hid, and he froze. It curiously took a hop forward towards him, and the cat exploded, launching itself ontop of the pigeon. It had no time to react before Jetstar had bit down mercilessly on it's neck and killed it instantaneously. He glanced back over at the group, before burying it in the ground and swishing his tail to the side. "The forest is full with prey this Greenleaf," he mewed quietly, not wanting to scare away any other prey from the area.

Stormsight paused from her searching to watch the leader of her clan stalk a bird, smiling to herself as he killed the prey neatly and quickly. His form was perfect, and the launch was well-timed. It's no wonder Jetstar is so good at hunting, she thought to herself before padding forward. "Nicely done, Jetstar. And yes, I have noticed we have not been lacking in freshkill, thank StarClan. We need to grow strong for the eventually icy days and snowy nights," the medicine cat blathered on, trailing off as she realized how much of a fool she was making herself seem. "Yes, so... I'll be over there... In the clearing... Herbs..." She muttered to herself, eyes down as she briskly padded away from the group.
Once slightly away from the others, she sighed with relief. Social interaction made Stormsight nervous, so she often had to take deep breaths to calm herself. Sniffing the ground at her feet, the female cat lifted her eyes to see a nice patch of cobwebs. The fat bundle of soft material would go well towards filling her stores. The silver she-cat also began to search for prey. She had agreed to come with them, so she might as well pull her own weight.

Aspenfur watched Jetstar as the patrol moved through the pines, breathing in the heavy scent of pine. It was nice to have the leader lead the patrol, as she hadn't been on a patrol with him with such a small group of cats since she was an apprentice. With a sudden start, Aspenfur realized she was the only warrior in the patrol. Wow, the leader and medicine cat are with me. What a honor. She scanned the trees as Jetstar veered away to stalk a dove. She turned away from him and headed into the other direction, her ears perked for any sign of prey. A fresh wave of scent hit her and she heard a scratching sound to the right as a squirrel climbed down the tree to dig into one of its stashes. Using a scrawny bush for cover, she crept up on the unsuspecting creature. Paws light on the peaty earth, she crept closer before jumping towards the tree. As she suspected, the squirrel lunged for the tree by instinct, hurtling itself right into her claws. Aspenfur bit down onto its neck, quickly finishing it off. She scratched some earth over the squirrel for later recovery, before padding back to the other cats.

At Aspenfur's return, Jetstar nodded happily at his warrior, proud of the strength within his own Clan. As Stormsight spoke, he perked his ears in curiosity as she gathered her composure and bounded over to a small collection of cobwebs. Perhaps he or Aspenfur should aid her? There could never be too many medicine cat supplies, and it was debatably more easy to get prey than supplies during Greenleaf. "Do you need any help? I'm sure Aspenfur and I can grab some if you need," Jetstar mewed after approaching Stormsight so they weren't at such a distance, glancing over his head to look at Aspenfur, hoping she agreed on the importance of herbs, even if there was no Clan disagreements.

Stormsight shifted her position so she was not using her blind eye to look at her leader. Whiskers twitching due to an emotion she couldn't quite place, the medicine cat nodded, looking up to try to remember her training.
"Yes, you're right. I do smell some tansy nearby," she meowed thoughtfully, tapping her tail against a tree in thought. "And there was yarrow not too far from where you caught the bird, which is always good to have." Greenleaf was wonderful, as there were almost no shortages of the herbs her clan required. Leafbare made her shiver, and not just from the cold. Being a medicine cat apprentice, surrounded by sick and dying cats, ill with greencough, the thought of the icy season chilled her to the bone. Stormsight snapped out of her memories, pulling herself back to the situation at hand.
"We can get the yarrow on the way back, so let's grab the tansy now," she smiled, glancing at Jetstar. The flowering plant was just within view of where she was standing, so it wasn't too far a walk.

Aspenfur followed Jetstar happily, waving her tail to Stormsight. "I can carry however much you need me to." She mewed happily, nosing the plant curiously. "The flowers are pretty!" She purred, but she wasn't sure exactly what part of the plant that Stormsight needed. Best to let her pick it herself. She thought, looking at the tansy with wide eyes.

Jetstar padded over to stand behind the tansy, still facing the medicine cat. He looked at it awkwardly, tilting his head to the side before bending his head down and picking one of the flowers from where it connected to the roots to try and get as much of it as possibly, as he didn't know what part was needed, and holding it up proudly. Picking it up like that, however, had left some dirt on his nose and as he held up the flower he couldn't help but compulsively sneezing, dropping the flower in the midst of doing so and pawing at his face uncomfortably. Sneezing was gross. This time, he decided to ask what exactly to do. "So...uh, what part of it do you need?" he asked, sniffling a little as he tried to regain his composure. What if he still had dirt on his face? That would be stupid...what kind of leader sticks his face in the dirt?

Stifling a laugh, Stormsight took a breath to compose herself. "I only use the flowers for medicines, but it's easier to carry bundles by the stems," she explained, stooping to bite off a few stalks of the sickly sweet herb. The fragrance clogged her nose and blinded her sense of smell, cloying to her fur and nostrils. "Blech," she muttered, sneezing and shaking her fur out. Once she had gathered a few bundles, Stormsight nodded, pleased. "If you leave the roots, more tansy will grow," the medicine cat added, tail waving happily. Herbs fascinated her, and she was happy to have her clanmates helping. Most of the time, Stormsight was out gathering herbs alone. Not that she minded. It gave her a chance to think.

Aspenfur's whiskers twitched as she watched the medicine cat work. "Want me to carry a few for you?" She mewed, taking a step forward with one paw raised. By the look of it, the herb appeared bitter, but the she-cat didn't mind if it meant helping out Stormsight. Besides, they still needed to collect the yarrow and the fresh-kill on the way back.

Jetstar grabbed a few stems, making sure to leave the roots like Stormsight had asked. He didn't grab as many as her, simply as he knew he had to grab the prey on the way back, too. He then eyed his warrior and medicine cat amusingly, twitching his whiskers in thought. Stormsight seemed as happy as she could be with the herbs, and he was glad to see her so pleased. She was a true medicine cat. And of course, Aspenfur being willing to leap in and help right away just showed his caring characteristics. It was important for the Clan to have such worthy members, and those two were prime examples. "Is there anything else you need to pick up?" he mewed curiously, tail waving.

Busy with the stems of tansy, Stormsight's head shot up, listening to the leader. "No, this should be enough for a long time. Hopefully, greencough doesn't come through this winter too harshly," she murmured, trailing off. Ears flattening in embarrassment, the medicine cat flicked her whiskers and looked at Aspenfur and Jetstar. "I will take your herbs if you'd like to continue on your hunting patrol," she meowed, smiling. She might have to make two trips, but camp was not too far and Stormsight enjoyed being outside the walls.

OOC: this is Deathpaw coming in with news from another patrol
Deathpaw ran hard through the forest and back towards camp. As she approached she realized that Jetstar was not at camp, realizing he had left just before her own patrol. Deathpaw stopped running and drank in the Shadowclan scents around her, the first scent she could find was the old scent of her border patrol. The second scent she found was Jetstar's hunting patrol. She immediately began following the scent. Making sure to keep a quick pace going, Deathpaw felt happy on the inside, one of her plans was actually working! As the scent of the patrol grew stronger, Deathpaw quickened her pace to find Stormsight, Jetstar, and Aspenfur.
"Jetstar! Nightpelt needs you on the Riverclan border. We've found evidence Riverclan has been hunting for sport in our territory!" Deathpaw spat angrily, her tail lashing for emphasis.

Aspenfur's eyes grew large in surprise as the small dark she-cat ran past her, blurting out that Riverclan was stealing prey. Her dark fur fluffed up angrily, and her eyes narrowed. Why, she should rake her claws down their mangy pelts! She growled low in her throat, her gaze turning towards Jetstar as she waited to see what the patrol would do.
